WHAT CAN MENTAL PERFORMANCE COACHING HELP YOUR TEAM DEVELOP?

Your athletes train their physical skills and learn how to execute your game plan. Mental performance coaching gives them a structured way to train the attention, awareness and responses that help them put that preparation into practice.

Your program may want to help athletes:

  • Bring their training into competition more consistently.

  • Refocus after mistakes and setbacks.

  • Stay engaged when expectations and pressure rise.

  • Develop confidence and self-trust.

  • Respond constructively to feedback and changing roles.

  • Strengthen communication and shared responsibility.

  • Build preparation and recovery habits throughout the season.

The work can address a current challenge or become part of your program’s ongoing development. We begin with what matters to your athletes and coaching staff.

WAYS TO BRING MENTAL PERFORMANCE COACHING TO YOUR TEAM

Choose a focused session, a connected teaching series or an ongoing partnership. Each approach is tailored to your athletes’ age, competitive level, goals and schedule.

TEAM TALKS & WORKSHOPS

Introduce a relevant topic through an engaging session that combines teaching, discussion and practical application. Athletes leave with a clear idea to explore and a practice they can bring into training or competition.

Suitable for preseason preparation, a midseason check-in, a specific team challenge or an introduction to mental training.

MENTAL PERFORMANCE TEACHING SERIES

Build learning across several connected sessions. Each visit introduces or develops a training area, gives athletes something to practice and creates an opportunity to reflect on their experiences at the next session.

A series might include two sessions across a season or four visits over several months. The number, timing and topics are shaped around your program.

ONGOING TEAM CONSULTING

Bring Kate into your program on a recurring or part-time basis. A partnership can combine team sessions, consultation with coaching staff, observation of training or competition, and individual athlete support according to the agreed scope.

Suitable for programs seeking to integrate mental training into their regular development and season planning.

WHAT WILL YOUR ATHLETES TRAIN?

Sessions connect mental performance concepts to situations your athletes experience. Topics are selected to fit your program, with opportunities to practice and apply the learning.

 ATTENTION & FOCUS

Train athletes to notice distractions, direct attention toward relevant information and return to the task when their focus shifts

ENERGY, PREPARATION & RECOVERY

Teach athletes to recognize activation and energy needs, prepare intentionally and recover physically, mentally and emotionally across training and competition.

PRESSURE & RESPONSES TO MISTAKES

Help athletes recognize what changes when a moment feels important. Practice responses that support refocusing, decision-making and continued participation after mistakes.

COMMUNICATION & TEAM RESPONSIBILITY

Explore how individual responses affect teammates. Practice communicating clearly, receiving feedback and acting in alignment with shared standards.

CONFIDENCE & SELF-TRUST

Develop the habits and relationship with themselves that support athletes through uncertainty, feedback and difficulty. Connect self-trust to preparation, commitments and their choices in sport.

IMAGERY & MENTAL REHEARSAL

Introduce mental rehearsal to support preparation and practice responses to competitive situations, including challenges athletes may encounter.

A PLAN BUILT AROUND YOUR PROGRAM

CLARIFY YOUR PRIORITIES

We begin by discussing your athletes, the demands of your sport and what you want to develop. Your observations help identify the most relevant starting point.

AGREE ON THE FORMAT

Together, we establish the session format, schedule, participants and scope of support. Delivery can be in person or virtual, with arrangements discussed according to your location and needs.

TEACH, TRAIN & APPLY

Athletes learn relevant concepts and practice skills they can bring into their sport. In a series or ongoing partnership, we return to their experiences and refine the training over time.

CONNECT WITH YOUR STAFF

Collaboration with coaches helps connect the learning to everyday practice. We discuss ways staff can reinforce the training through language, routines and relevant moments in the season.

SUPPORT BEYOND THE TEAM SESSION

Depending on your program’s goals, a partnership can include additional resources and support.

INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE COACHING

Provide personalized support for athletes who would benefit from dedicated mental training. Individual sessions can complement the team’s learning while addressing the athlete’s own goals and experiences.

TAIS ASSESSMENT

Use individual attentional and interpersonal profiles to inform athlete development and relevant coaching conversations. Results are interpreted in relation to the person and the demands of their sport.

THE ATHLETE WITHIN® ONLINE PLATFORM

Give athletes resources to continue training between sessions, including audio coaching, guided practices, Performance Journeys and reflection prompts.

COACH & PARENT EDUCATION

Include sessions for coaches or parents when appropriate to your program. Build shared understanding around attention, pressure, self-trust and how adults can support athletes’ development and ownership.
