WHAT IS THE TAIS ASSESSMENT?

TAIS is an online questionnaire that explores attentional and interpersonal characteristics relevant to performance. These include tendencies in concentration, distraction, decision-making and interaction with others.

Your results provide a profile that we interpret alongside your experiences and the demands of your sport. Together, we explore where your tendencies support you, where they may create
challenges and what would be useful to train

Developed by psychologist Dr. Robert Nideffer, TAIS has been applied in sport, business and military settings. At Quantum Performance, the emphasis is on translating your profile into  practical direction for your development

WHAT CAN TAIS HELP YOU UNDERSTAND?

You may want to understand why your focus changes in competition, why you get caught in overthinking or what helps you perform well. TAIS provides a structured starting point for exploring these questions

The goal is to identify what you can build on and give your mental training a clearer direction.

ATTENTION & DISTRACTIONS

Explore how you tend to direct your attention and how thoughts, feelings or activity around you can pull it away. Connect those tendencies to the focus your sport requires.

COMMUNICATION & INTERPERSONAL STYLE

Explore how you tend to express ideas, respond to feedback and interact with others. Use that understanding to support communication with coaches, teammates and the people involved in your development.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR TAIS ASSESSMENT?

01

ONLINE ASSESSMENT

Complete the questionnaire online at a time when you can give it your full attention. Respond to statements about your typical thoughts and behaviors to create your individual profile.

02

INDIVIDUAL DEBRIEF WITH KATE

Meet one-to-one with Kate Allgood, a certified TAIS interpreter, to review your results. Connect the findings to your experiences in training and competition, ask questions and explore what they mean for your development.

03

TAIS REPORT

Receive your individual report outlining your attentional and interpersonal profile. Your debrief helps you understand the findings and gives you context to return to as you continue training.

04

PERSONALIZED TRAINING DIRECTION

Identify relevant priorities and practical next steps based on your profile, goals and sport. Leave with a clearer understanding of what to observe, what to train and how to begin applying the insights.

TURN YOUR ASSESSMENT INSIGHTS INTO TRAINING

Understanding your profile gives you direction. Training helps you develop the skills to apply it. We connect the assessment findings to specific practices relevant to your performance.

You can continue developing through one-to-one coaching or use resources within The Athlete Within® online platform to support independent training. We discuss a suitable next step based on your goals.

Depending on your needs, that training may include:

Directing and shifting attention to match the task.

Returning your focus after internal or external distractions.

Developing preparation routines for demanding situations.

Managing activation and practicing responses to pressure.

Rehearsing decisions and responses through mental imagery.

Strengthening communication and your response to feedback.
